Multiculturalism and Diversity
Enriching Early Learning Environment Through Culture.
In today’s society, it is clearly evident communities, families, classrooms and child care programs are rich in diversity. The Multiculturalism and Diversity workshop will teach participants how cultural differences enrich the Early Learning Environment, as well as give insight into creating an inclusive environment where everyone is accepted and encouraged to thrive.
This workshop will teach the participants to evaluate their playroom environment by using a multicultural checklist: drama, blocks, music, movement, outdoor, sensory, art, books, stories, games, puzzles, food, cooking, group time, festivals, celebrations, policies, displays, and science. Using a powerpoint presentation participants will be able to see examples of playrooms and play centres which have been enhanced with multicultural materials.
The workshop will also provide an opportunity to learn about the importance of understanding diversity within the families who attend the Early Learning Child Care Program to ensure participants are working with families in a sensitive manner.
